long lost outfits

Oy – I had more outfits that I forgot to put up than I thought. I’ve really been in a groove with my outfits, so even though I’m behind on posting I keep having more and more to post! Not that I’m complaining though! I’m also fighting off a little chest cold so old posts are making my day easier.

This first cutie was originally a floor-length dress that I bought from Chicken the first time I went in. I love how tall I looked in it, but maxi dresses read really formal to me so I almost always hem them. I really love the unique straps on it too.

Me when I first got this dress almost three years ago!

A friend came in and sold me these while I was working and I had to put them on right away!

I found this tunic on the Forever 21 website, but before I could buy it they sold out! Luckily when I went to my local store a few weeks ago I found it there. It was long enough when I got it to totally be a mini dress, but I accidentally shrunk it in the wash so now it’s a tights only ensemble. It also gave me the opportunity to finally wear this awesome coral blazer that I’ve had for years but never worn for some reason!

Layers!

fuzzy wuzzy was a girl

I have to say that I am uber pleased to present my new vintage fur collar! I had been hunting for one since early winter, ever since I saw how adorable Calivintage and Orchid Grey‘s fur collars were. Both Erin and Julie just made it look like such a great, effortless piece. And it is very warm, a major plus for me. There are none to be found in the vintage stores of Cincinnati, and the first one I saw in Nashville was way out of price range at $70. I picked this one up for $35, and I like it because although it is lamb skin, it doesn’t feel super real. While I have no moral problem wearing vintage fur since it’s long dead and recycled, I personally can’t handle the feeling of some furs on my skin. They just feel a little too much like someone’s pet sometimes. Anyway, all these pieces worked to well together, and everything but the sweater and tights are from Nashville! I’m sorry about how blurry they are too, I didn’t realize until the next day when I uploaded them.

I took a few shots at the shop too, although didn’t like how busy they are. One of the things I love about the store is that there’s definitely a lot going on visually, it just kind of works against me for this purpose. Although, since the other ones came out so blurry, maybe they’ll give you a better idea of the whole outfit.

another day in nashville

Since I had so many pictures in my last post, I just decided to do a separate one for my outfit. Plus, I am debuting my very first GIF! And I want to tip my hat to the always fabulous Rebecca from The Clothes Horse for giving me the idea. I love the stop motion GIFs she does with her rabbit. This one is definitely not as exciting as hers, but I wanted to try something new so my very sweet boy whipped this up for me.

I got this superb orange coat at the thrift store earlier in the day, and was thrilled with how well it matched the rest of my outfit. I know it’s a bit much, but I’m not one to shy away from looking a little like a circus clown. I also had to buy the Lolita style heart sunglasses I’m wearing, because I realized once we got into town that had forgotten mine at home. I like these, but since I already routinely get mistaken for a high schooler I try to shy away from accessories that  make me look any younger.

This was the first time tried the skinny belt over my sweater, I was really happy with the result.

I love how ridiculously huge these buttons are!
