i wish every day was halloween part 1

I hope everyone’s Halloween was fantastic, I wish I could see all my readers’ costumes! This year, since there were so many great things to do both Friday and Saturday, I decided to do a different costume each night. It was pretty chilly here on Friday and I wasn’t quite happy with my Tank Girl costume yet so I opted for zombie Dolly again. It worked out well and I was happy how many people recognized who I was. Jacob was The Unabomber, but somehow I don’t have a single picture of him! These pictures are actually from the Chicken Lays An Egg zombie party, but I wore the exact same thing. (First two images by Rachel Elliott)

Zombies like to drink too! And you can’t tell from this angle, but my glass is a giant cowboy boot mug.

I’ll have a post just about the party up in the next few days too- I’m waiting on a few more pictures.

Maya’s Lydia Deetz costume turned out pretty good too- the best part was definitely the hair! I wish I’d have gotten one of her with her prop camera, it definitely made it more recognizable.

I have some more to come of my Tank Girl costume as well, so stay tuned!

Every spring and fall my hometown, Williamsburg holds a town-wide yard sale. I’ve completely forgotten about the last few so I am so glad I was able to make it out for this one. Jacob and I had planned on driving out there Saturday morning but his car broke down again, so I was thinking it was pretty out of the question being that it’s almost an hour drive away from the city. Thankfully my best girl Maya and her boy Brendan were down for a little road trip adventure.

I would’ve taken more pictures along the drive but that just means you would’ve seen more of this exact same scene.

Ahhhh yeah- let’s make a deal!

This lady had sooo much good stuff. I bought like $20 worth from her.

Brendan and his fish.

I wish I could have cups like this, but every time I buy them they always end up broken in a month.

This Goodwill is the beginning of my love of thrift stores. As I mentioned, Williamsburg is a very small town and pretty much everybody we grew up with was more into mall clothes so we had the run of this Goodwill’s ironic t-shirts and vintage dresses. Among many other treasures I once got a perfect 1930 Royal typewriter with the case for $10 here. Obviously this was on my list of places that we had to stop at.

It must’ve been our lucky day too because as you may see on the sign behind my head, everything in the store was 50% off!

That’s all I’ve got of now, but I will be back again very very soon with TONS of exciting news…

fancypacks, ice cream, and puppy haircuts

In my life pretty much everybody is a huge dog lover, and that doesn’t stop with my business partners. Dana has two dogs and  Maya has a two as well. Recently Maya’s super-sweet boyfriend got her a gift certificate to have her dogs groomed, so we took them up there last week. They came back looking like different dogs!
When we were on our way home from picking them up I realized we were going to pass another Cincinnati institution, Putz’s Creamy Whip. We had a few minutes so we decided to stop for ice cream. I love Putz’s so much. :)

Last week the boy and I drove out to the suburbs to visit the wondrous Gabriel Brothers. Gabe’s is kind of like a TJ Maxx in that they get in overstock designer-y stuff, but I love them infinitely more. Their stuff is really cheap and you can get Urban Outfitters, The Limited, BCBG, and a bunch more! This skirt is one of my UO finds- nice light chiffon, pockets, and only $5! It’s fantastic. Even their tights and belts and other accessories are like $2 and $3. I’ve been pretty much living in this skirt since I bought it.

The other new piece that I’ve been really obsessed with are my Ann Taylor tuxedo shoes. I came so close to not buying them because the inner lining of them is completely crumbling and makes your feet all gross. However, I love them and if I hadn’t bought them I know I’d be totally kicking myself in the ass. Only $7!

Here it is- my beautiful little Fancypack!! I wore it out to the bar for the first time this last Friday and as I was walking there someone spotted and recognized it as a Fancypack! It made me so happy that she’s really gaining notoriety, she totally deserves it.

Sine mine is a mini it only has two pockets, but it’s perfect for just the essentials. Lately I haven’t been carrying a purse at all, I just take my wallet and go so this is great for me.

I’ve hardly ever worn it but I really love this paisley top, especially the satin lapels. Supercool.
