Well dear readers, I’m sure you have noticed my serious lack of posts recently. There was an incident that happened a few weeks ago with my blog, and it really made me consider just deleting it. Without going into detail, I accidentally stepped right in exactly what I hate about the fashion world. I started writing this blog purely out of my love of being a fashionable lady on a very small budget, and I just need to stay true to that idea. Oh well, I’m over it now though and am back in action!

A few days ago, my very handsome boy and I went to see Inception at the movie theater up the street. Since it was such a lovely evening, we decided to just walk there. We have a really adorable little neighborhood, so I thought you might enjoy the walk with us!

Like those giant cuts on the backs of my knees? That’s what happens when you have your dog on a retractable leash and she wraps it around you and bolts after a bird. Thanks Charlie.

Just ignore those old lady socks sticking out. My shoes give me really bad blisters in the back without them. :(

Alright enough of that silliness- we’re gonna be late for the movie!

Oh, look – it’s my roommate/business partner/fabulous friend, Maya! I really do see her everywhere I go!

Right behind her car is Skyline, Cincinnati’s most well-known regional food. Their specialty is chili with spaghetti and a giant mound of cheese, which is how we eat all chili in Cincy. I actually can’t imagine why you’d wanna eat chili without spaghetti under it, and cheese makes everything better, so… yeah. if you’re not a vegetarian and you’re in Cincinnati, I guess I’d try it. It’s not really the best chili, but after a night of drinking it hits the spot pretty well.

Here it is, the Esquire Theatre! It’s the local art house theater, and is very near and dear to my heart. One of the first jobs I had in Cincinnati was at the Esquire, and among many many of my other friends, I met Maya there. She actually trained me over six years ago and we’ve been friends ever since. Sadly, this is also where I leave you guys. I can promise that I will be back soon though!

Although I don’t shop there too much, I recently made a stop at my local Urban Outfitters since it was on my way home (after I walked a block out of the way). I was very pleased to see lots and lots of sale stuff- my favorite! I allowed myself to get one thing, and at $10 this striped bodysuit won! I am a little annoyed with myself for not trying it on because I always forget to account for my longer torso, so it is a bit small for me. It’s still wearable though and I was very happy about how well it matched this skirt. In an effort to avoid being too red, white, and blue though I went with tan accessories. Ideally I would have been wearing these shoes, but there’s some rule about paying for things before you receive them or something. Weak.

Just use your imagination and pretend I’m wearing those, it’s much cuter. And as usual, sorry for the blur.

Well I’m not sure if my most recent shopping trip did it or what, but I have broken through my outfitblock. I finally put something together that my critical mind didn’t find overly simple. I had been looking for a suspender pencil skirt like this for years, so I basically lost my shit when I found this one! I just picked up this shirt at a half off sale and was really pleased with how well it went with the skirt. Add complimentary tights and presto!

As stoked as I was when I bought this dress, I didn’t realize how see through it was! Luckily I had a white tank and short slip that worked out OK. I love the detail on this dress too; the little shoulder panels of floral print are probably my fave.

I didn't buy it until a few hours later so I'm not wearing it in the pictures, but this was the necklace I was wearing most of the day.

Since I’m still kind of sick and unfortunately had to work, I was hoping to optimal comfort and warmth. I think I did pretty well. Surprisingly, my feet didn’t hurt me all day!

That face is because my pup was leaping around the bed in a frenzy.

RETROactive posting- part 1

When I was looking through my pictures the other night, I realized that there were a few days that some how got lost in the mix and were never posted! So over next week or so I’m going to go back and finally post those.

This first set is from my birthday (before I actually had my blog), but there are some really cute ones of me and the boy! We spent the day running around the Natural History Museum. It was one of the best days I can remember.

Jacob had one of his kidneys removed. We still don't know how the museum got ahold of it.

Today is my second weekday at our lovely new store, and I really want to thank everyone who helped me along the way. From painting to donating clothes to just coming in, you have all made this possible for me. For as long as I can remember this has been my dream, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

The response from the Northside neighborhood in general has just been so overwhelmingly friendly and supportive. One of the residents from the upstairs apartments even donated a box of beautiful vintage cameras! Thanks Erin!!

And here’s our little store!!

I don’t want to completely bog down this post with pictures, but that doesn’t even show half of the store, as well as our back room that you can barely see. And we definitely have MEN’S clothes too!

Here’s a little outfit I wore to the library a few days ago, and I finally took advantage of my lovely surroundings…

This was originally a floor-length old lady skirt with a giant bunny patch on it, but I salvaged it for the cute yoke and POCKETS. One of my best saves.
