I am very pleased to say that I am now the owner of a very gently used Macbook Pro, which means that I am back to blogging when I want to! Let me tell you, the simple idea that I can blog from home again is HUUUUGE. I also can’t wait to explore some of the bells and whistles this beautiful piece of machinery has!

Enough about my computer though- I’m glad I finally got some pictures of myself in this dress, I’ve worn it a handful of times but only at night. I picked it up from Chicken Lays An Egg a few months ago but I had to re-hem it because the hem was completely crooked. The shoes match the abstract mod print of the dress amazingly well too- I love when that happens!

I actually hate the heel on these.

Well ladies and gents, thanks to my tax return check, which was muuuch bigger than I thought it would be, I got my Aldo wedges! I love it when the IRS tells you that you missed something on your form and then gives you $400 more than you thought you were getting! The rest of that money is going towards finally getting my truck back on the road. I can’t wait, I love that little piece of shit. Anyway, here’s what I wore today to showcase my shoes! I forgot to put on all my jewelry though before I left the house, so I may try to run home and get all of it so I can take some pictures in the park today.

Aren't they the most gorgeous things you've ever seen?!

I am obviously head over heels for them, and I must say that they are amazingly comfy! I’ve been wearing them for 4 hours and I’m still feeling great. You’ll probably see more of this outfit tomorrow too.

EDIT: Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to go back to the park to take more pictures, however I did prepare for this possibility yesterday and take more pictures than I put up. So here are a few more shots of this outfit:

Well, Christmas is over already somehow. It always sneaks up on me, but it really got me this time! The Holiday Soiree at the store went fabulously, and I’ll have the photo booth pictures up in the next few days. They turned out phenomenal, our friend Scott really did an incredible job.

My Christmas turned out pretty great, I actually got a bunch of stuff I wanted! Thankfully I got lots of grocery gift cards; I’m so glad my family finally realized that the best present you can get for poor kids is food! I also got a bunch of board games from my mom and a Dremel from my Dad, which was exactly what I wanted. Honestly though the best part of Christmas for me was just having some free time to spend on the couch cuddling with my boy and our puppy brigade. I’ve been running around so much in the last week or so that I’ve barely had time to do that.

Since I have quite a few outfits from the last week, I guess I’ll just do a few each day. This one is from last Wednesday at the shop. I just got this dress and hat from the store and I was dying to wear them. I just love the giant bow on this hat! Actually, everything I was wearing that day is from the store except for my tights and shoes!

Just a little moment of awesomeness from my Christmas: these are gay pride Christmas bears that my straight ex-marine cousin made. Her mom told her she was ruining Christmas, and she said, “What mom? Gay people have Christmas too!” This was all while my biker aunt and uncle got sloshed on PBR, and everyone there continuously screamed over each other to be heard. That’s how every holiday is. I love my family.

Well, as much as I distance myself from people who create drama and try very hard not to let the stress get to me, it does occasionally happen. Luckily this is the end of it for me, my drama resolved itself. I try to live a life full of good karma. It’s the closest thing I’ll ever have to a religion, and I think it helps me out of these situations. Be good and good things will happen in return. So here’s to more good karma!

I also got an email back from the always lovely Julie at Orchid Grey, and she has graciously put up a link on her page too! I’m loving these blogger ladies, they’re a bunch of sweethearts!

I am way jealous of her frames!

I think I’ve also been feeling better because I finally whipped out my needle and did some long-overdue stitching! I made this really cute set of felt breakfast ornaments (includes toast, fried egg, and of course bacon) to sell at the store. The boy snapped a few of me elbow deep in some felt bacon.

If you’re going to be in Cincinnati at all next Saturday the 19th, the ladies of Chicken Lays An Egg will be having a little holiday soiree! Check out the details here. Bring your friends, we’ll have booze!

As stoked as I was when I bought this dress, I didn’t realize how see through it was! Luckily I had a white tank and short slip that worked out OK. I love the detail on this dress too; the little shoulder panels of floral print are probably my fave.

WHEN: wednesday, november 25

Well, faithful readers, I hope for your sake you are in Cincinnati. Mostly because I just became the owner of some of the best vintage clothes I’ve seen in a looooong time. I had a fantastic shopping day today. Maya and I hit up a rummage sale, and then after I closed up, I went and got some truly incredible vintage pieces from a girl leaving the country. And not just womens’ stuff either! I absolutely cannot WAIT to get it all priced and in the store!

Also, tonight was the opening of a very cool new space, Fabricate. It is a gallery, boutique and an arts and crafts supply store; and every month the gallery will feature a new exhibition, which will open alongside a band and/or a DJ. I stopped by the opening tonight for a minute, and I was really impressed. I’m so glad to have a shop like this in Cincy! Go check it out! It’s in Northside at 4016 Hamilton Ave (inside Red Polly).

Today I debuted a dress I got a few months ago, but never got around to wearing it. I love the zipper roses, but I’m not wild about the bottom. I’m thinking about cutting it off and making it a tent style top. Hmmm… I have to say, as hard as I am on tights, these have held up remarkably well. I can’t wait to buy more, but when I went to the H&M opening here, they didn’t really have any. Maya was looking pretty darn cute herself, so I grabbed her when she stopped in the store. Now we just need to get one of us with our fabulous other business partner, Dana!

We ran all around Northside and had a fantastic little night on the town. Since Chicken Lays An Egg just signed up for a collaborative ad with Mayday, (as well as Sidewinder, Bughouse Video, Melt, and possibly Shake It Records) Maya and I were eager to meet Kim and Vanessa the new owners of Mayday and Sidewinder. They were as sweet and fun as I could have hoped for and I hope to do a lot of business with them in the future. Support your local female small business owners and go check out Mayday, it still has all the things you love about the old Gypsy Hut but better!

Anyway, here’s what I wore; I only wish I had gotten better ones of Amy and Maya’s adorable outfits too.  Sorry for the image quality on some of these!

And I forgot to post a final picture of the Max costume I was working on. It came out pretty darn well if I do say so! The whiskers were definitely the best part, they stuck out perfectly. And Maxman was thrilled to say the least. He had a really high temperature the night I dropped it off, but as soon as he saw it he jumped right up. He ran around me yelling “be still” for like 5 minutes. It was beyond adorable.

the king of all the wild things

Today was definitely one of the last few warm days we’ve got left here in Ohio. So me and the boy decided to take our pup out to the park for some fresh air. To bad all she wanted to do was smell stuff. Oh well! Also, please ignore the creepy catalog look I’ve got goin’ on in one of these. Believe it or not that was a real laugh.

A good friend of mine, Becky recently let me borrow her modern age sewing machine  to help me finish the Where The Wild Things Are costume. (Who knew they made sewing machines after 1930?!) In doing so, she inadvertently turned my living room into a one woman sweatshop. I’m surprised I don’t have stitching blisters. Becky, you are a saint.  My living room is now strewn with fabric scraps of every type, spools of thread, ties, balls of yarn, felt, and pretty much anything used to craft. My roommate remarked on walking through that she felt like she was walking through my brain. I thought it seemed pretty accurate. Needless to say, I haven’t left my apartment at all except to go to work and to fight b.s. parking tickets.

Getting geared up to move a bunch of stuff from the old storefront in Camp Washington to Northside this Saturday! I’m definitely excited, but nervous. And I absolutely cannot WAIT for the opening!!! October 30, 6-11pm 1608 Chase Ave. We’ll also be open all day before the party. Bring your friends!!

Anyway, here’s Tuesday’s outfit….

I was watching an episode of Extras where one of the characters wears a scarf as a tie for a job interview, and I thought it looked awesome. See? TV teaches stuff.
