i wish every day was halloween part 2

The other day Jacob and I were sitting on the couch talking about what we want to be next year (we’d already chosen more than 4 at this point) when he said, “why don’t we just make these costumes now and wear them out throughout the year- who cares if it’s Halloween or not.” Moments like that just make me wanna cry because they so prove in so many ways that he is the perfect man for me. He’s amazing.

Anyway, Saturday night was full of ups and downs, but I was determined to have a fantastic time as Tank Girl. I must say, in the end I had an absolutely fabulous night! I had Maya snap a few before we headed out in case I messed it up in the course of the evening.

I was really happy with how well my bulls eye t-shirt turned out since I painted it at 5 that night with poster paint, and thanks to my kickass friend Kim, I had the perfect goggles! The only thing I bought for this costume was the $5 bullet belt and hand grenade, I owned almost everything else and borrowed the few other things.

I was super impressed by this guy’s Rocketeer, especially when I found out that he made most of it out of duct tape.

Happily, a bunch of our regular goin’ out buddies were at the bar we ended up at.

On Halloween even a pirate and an octopus can be friends!

What?? I love calamari!

I’m glad that Jacob had the presence of mind to take these because they ended up being my favorite ones of the evening.

Thanks for reading! What were you for Halloween?

i wish every day was halloween part 1

I hope everyone’s Halloween was fantastic, I wish I could see all my readers’ costumes! This year, since there were so many great things to do both Friday and Saturday, I decided to do a different costume each night. It was pretty chilly here on Friday and I wasn’t quite happy with my Tank Girl costume yet so I opted for zombie Dolly again. It worked out well and I was happy how many people recognized who I was. Jacob was The Unabomber, but somehow I don’t have a single picture of him! These pictures are actually from the Chicken Lays An Egg zombie party, but I wore the exact same thing. (First two images by Rachel Elliott)

Zombies like to drink too! And you can’t tell from this angle, but my glass is a giant cowboy boot mug.

I’ll have a post just about the party up in the next few days too- I’m waiting on a few more pictures.

Maya’s Lydia Deetz costume turned out pretty good too- the best part was definitely the hair! I wish I’d have gotten one of her with her prop camera, it definitely made it more recognizable.

I have some more to come of my Tank Girl costume as well, so stay tuned!

it’s eat cake!

Oh man, I am so excited about Halloween! I had some grand plans of showing a few easy to do costumes each day, but I ran out of time and didn’t collect the small items that I needed to complete them. I don’t know if it’s the perfectionist in me or if it’s cause I hate explaining who I am, but my Halloween costumes have to be as perfect and accurate as I can get them. I did style a pretty great Lydia Deetz costume for Maya though, so I’ll make sure to post some of those. I plan on being Tank Girl and I must say, I’m pretty excited. I will make sure to post lots of pics after!

As I mentioned the other day, my favorite bar Mayday just had their one year anniversary last week. Coincidentally I had just gotten these sweet faux leather pants from Forever 21 and was dying to wear them so I threw together a little edgy look and went out. Normally I don’t take pictures of my going out outfits because I don’t trust drinkin’ Jessy to not destroy or lose my camera. I also really don’t like taking pictures in my apartment either(bad lighting and no good backgrounds), so a whole part of my style gets lost sometimes. I’m working on making sure they get documented now though. Not to toot my own horn, but I think I wear some pretty great bar outfits. You be the judge!

I was also pretty pumped that one of the Korean shirts that my brother sent me went so well with the pants and the event! It says simply, “It’s eat cake”.

Since I was trying for a bit over the top, I decided to mix silver and gold jewelry and accessories, which I almost never do either.
