I really hope that everyone’s spring has been going well; mine has been spectacular! Honestly that is probably why I’ve been posting so little lately. I’m glad that things turned themselves around though because the year started off kinda rough.

Since I am behind on my posts, I have quite a backlog of outfits. Now I know what you’re thinking- what does this mean to me, the average blog reader? It means that you get not one but TWO outfits in this one post! I know, it’s an amazing deal. This first outfit is from the Friday of the Kentucky Derby, and I actually completely forgot and still ended up with a very Derby outfit. I just wanted to wear my new hat! I was also really excited that day because while I was getting dressed my fancy new blue shoes arrived! I’ve been on a big kick to buy more brightly colored shoes after being incredibly inspired by Iman of Mishaps & Miracles, she rocks the best head to toe color that I’ve seen in a long time!

I am really happy with my new shoes, I was debating between the ones I got and the Steve Madden version:

As you can see the ruffle down the front is a little more well made, but for $20 less I figured I could deal. Actually when I got them I liked them better than I thought I would. The color was more vivid and they just looked more well made than they did in the picture on the Target website.

This second outfit was a little something I threw together to work with the head wrap thing. Haiku Ambulance rocks them so well and since we have the same haircut I wanted to give it a try. Unfortunately this was one of the days that my camera decided it couldn’t focus on things. For some reason it’s been doing that lately and I don’t know why, but please bear with me until I figure it out.

Also, A little shout out to my girl Haiku Ambulance for getting Weardrobe‘s Spotlight this week!

I used a square-ended 1980's necktie for my hair wrap

bathroom photo shoot

I have to say that I ashamed how I have been neglecting my blog lately, my life has been kind of a roller coaster lately. Anyway, enough excuses- only cool stuff from here on out.

After the fashion show, the ladies and I went drinking at this great dive gay bar downtown called The Subway. On our walk over we passed the House of Adam, a men’s clothing store that specializes in such things as blue zoot suits and tri color snakeskin shoes. So we had to pay some respect..

House of prayer

After much hiking around in our heels, we finally got to The Subway were lots of drinks and fun ensued. Sadly they had long since planned to shut down and closed their doors last week. Lucky for you we took lots of pictures in their super gross bathroom though! Maya and I started out in the ladies’ room because they allowed us to illegally smoke in there.

Once Dana and Melissa came to join us we migrated over to the men’s room. Good thing I’ve never seen more than 3 people in that bar at any time- not that I’m above peeing in a mens’ room to avoid a super long line at the ladies’ room. Anyway, I love how both of these came out.

Here’s what Maya and I wore:

We didn't even plan to pose the same way, it just happened!

We went to the finale of Fashion Week too, but all of my pictures came out horribly. The few that did come out were of some of the impeccably dressed ladies I saw, so I’m pretty happy about that. See who you recognize from the past few entries:

Doesn't this girl and her adorable dress just make you happy?

We had a great time and were really glad to be involved all in all. Thanks to all the people who made Cincinnati’s first Fashion Week a huge success!

mitchell’s hair show

Well I wish I had a good excuse for taking this long to get my Fashion Week posts up, however it really has more to do with me being a total procrastinator. We had a great time doing the Mitchell’s hair show at Blackfinn, and I have to give a shout out to the very sweet Ava from Mitchell’s who suggested Chicken Lays An Egg as the clothing suppliers. It was a great feeling to be included in the very first Fashion Week, and I got to help dress the models before the show which was a cool new experience for me! The theme was Marie Antoinette meets 80′s punk. Here’s a shot of some of the models back stage before the show:

Dana, Maya, myself, and Melissa just before the show

There was a lot of running around at the last minute before the show (amazingly no one had a safety pin!), but it all worked out perfectly in the end. I wish I had gotten more but my camera was delaying a bunch between pictures.

It was fantastic to see some of our stuff in action and I can’t wait for the shows we have coming up. Mayday, one of my favorite local bars has asked us to clothe their Do’s, Brews, and Tattoos later this month and we are also taking part in Eco-A-Go-Go show in June! I will definitely make sure to post more info about those as I get it. After the show we got drinks and did a mini photo shoot so I’ll do a separate post for that, but here’s what I wore to the show that night.
